This program will introduce you to the concepts of Chinese medicine such as qi, meridians, yin/yang, and the five elements. You will learn to integrate these concepts into the gentle listening touch of acupressure and the more active style of traditional shiatsu.

Acupressure - 56 hours

An ancient system of healing from China that has mapped out pathways (meridians) of vital life energy (qi). You will learn to use points on the meridians to contact the flow of qi and help the body reach a state of balance and harmony. There will also be an introduction to the traditional concepts of pulse reading and five-element theory that will help you gain insight into the needs of each individual client.

Shiatsu - 64 hours

The yang partner to acupressure, shiatsu literally means "finger pressure". In this traditional Japanese form of bodywork, based on the concepts of Chinese medicine, you will learn to use stretching, kneading, pressing, and rocking with fingers, thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to work muscles and open the energetic body.

Anatomy & Physiology B - 30 hours

This class deals primarily with the organ systems discussed in Asian Systems classes from a western medical perspective. You will continue to build a solid foundation in western anatomy and physiology while gaining insight into the complementary ways these two cultures view the functioning of the body.
